Join us at Parkette Saturday, December 10 at 11 AM for our second Family Grief Story Time. This time, we'll be reading the touching book "Ida, Always," a heartwarming story about love, loss, and remembrance, perfect for families navigating the journey of grief together.
RECE Matt Cordero:
Matthew Cordero is a father of three and has been an Early Childhood Educator for the last 13 years. He devoted the majority of his career to the Hamilton Wentworth District School Board, serving as a DECE in their comprehensive Full Day Kindergarten Program. Currently, he holds a full-time position as a Professor of Early Childhood Education at Mohawk College. In recent years, Matthew has experienced profound personal loss, with the passing of several family members - his father in 2016 and mother in 2023, both to cancer, and his brother in 2020 due to Covid-19.
Ida, Always:
A beautiful, honest portrait of loss and deep friendship told through the story of two iconic polar bears.
Gus lives in a big park in the middle of an even bigger city, and he spends his days with Ida. Ida is right there. Always. Then one sad day, Gus learns that Ida is very sick, and she isn’t going to get better. The friends help each other face the difficult news with whispers, sniffles, cuddles, and even laughs. Slowly Gus realizes that even after Ida is gone, she will still be with him—through the sounds of their city, and the memories that live in their favorite spots.
Ida, Always is an exquisitely told story of two best friends—inspired by a real bear friendship—and a gentle, moving, needed reminder that loved ones lost will stay in our hearts, always.
